This candy Thanksgiving gratitude game is a fun family activity for a Thanksgiving dinner party, fun autumn kids activity, kindness club ideas, or for things to do at a harvest party for fall activities.
It’s a really cheap game that you can play around the Thanksgiving dinner table with a few game supplies you probably already have at home!
Great game for all ages (as long as they can talk and, maybe, eat candy!).

How To Play The Thanksgiving Gratitude Game
This easy DIY holiday game is a fun Thanksgiving gratitude activity for kids and adults to do after Thanksgiving dinner or for a Thanksgiving Day gratitude game for the holiday kids’ table, or even a classroom party fall game.
GAME TIP: You can play this DIY game with M&M candy or as the gratitude game with Skittles. You just need candies that have different colors.
Goal Of The Game
The goal of this grateful game is to choose a candy color and then give thanks for the item that matches the color of the candy selected from a game printable.
You can either print out your own items or write them down next to a dot of the same color of each candy.
For example, your color list may be:
- GREEN M&M: Name a person you are thankful for (and why!)
- YELLOW M&M: Name a place you are thankful for
- BLUE M&M: Name an object you are thankful for (toy, book, etc.)
- RED M&M: Name an event you are thankful for
- ORANGE M&M: Name a food you are thankful for
- BROWN M&M: Name anything you are thankful for
You can make up your own color meanings, too!
Candy Gratitude Game Supplies
To play the DIY Thanksgiving candy game, you’ll need:
• Bowl of M&Ms or Skittles candies (or any small candies with different colors)
• Paper or Notecards
• Colored Pencils or Markers (in the same colors of the candy)

Thankful Gratitude Candy Game Instructions & Game Setup
To Play The M&M Gratitude Game:
1. Make printable game cards (reference cards) guests can refer to during the game.
We just put a colored dot the color of each candy piece and then writing something to be grateful for next to each color.
For example, yellow could be “Name something that happened this year that you’re grateful for.”
You can make them anything you like! (See the examples we give above if you need ideas.)
2. Place a bowl of M&Ms in the center of the table.
Place the reference cards near the M&M candies so guests can see them and easily refer to them.
3. On their turn, a player takes turns closing their eyes and taking out a piece of candy.
Based on the color of the candy they get, they have to name something they are thankful for based on the printable gratitude card matching colors.
For example, a yellow M&M (based on our colors above) means the person would name a place they are thankful for.
Players keep (and eat, if they want) their candy. Don’t put it back in the bowl. (Because, gross.)
4. Play then passes to the next person until everyone has had a chance to play.
GAME TIP: You can even do multiple rounds to give people different opportunities to talk about what they're grateful for by drawing different colors.
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you enjoy playing this sweet Thanksgiving gratitude game with friends and family!
